The hike went up quite steep. We had incredible views to the mountains all the time we turned around! There was a lot of snow falling in the winter and snow was still in areas which are normally snow free in this time. So we had to place our tents on the snow. The night was extremely cold but with many stars on the sky. When the first day light pushed the stars away we started our hike to the K2 viewpoint. We had to cross a big snow field which was kind of risky without climbing iron. The snow filed was partly iced and I don’t want to imagine where we would end up when we started sliding. We also hoped that no avalanche would bury us. But we’ve got rewarded. We reached the view point with an altitude of 4278m and had a clear view on a sunny blue sky day to the K2 which was about 70 KM away from us.
The farewell of this beautiful valley wasn’t easy after this super nice experience. We camped at the river bank of the Indus and had a fish BBQ on a cozy campfire. And also the next camping side was extra ordinary. Close to Skardu lies between the mountains a desert with big sand dunes. We switched on 4-wheel drive and speeded through the dunes. In the middle of the desert we found one of the most remarkable places to sleep.

Was für ein unglaublich schöner und eindrucksvoller Trip und fantastische Bilder & Videos. Lässt mein Herz höher schlagen und mein Wunsch, nach Pakistan zu reisen, wird immer dringender. Hab das schon lange im Hinterkopf, aber da Mitreisende zu finden, die sich trauen, war bisher unmöglich.

Die lästige Polizeieskorte hat sich bis dahin hoffentlich erledigt.
Bezüglich der Madrasas lohnt es sich auch den Zusammenhang zwischen der Radikalisierung pakistanischer Schüler und der „Hilfsorganisation“ USAID zu hinterfragen. Spannend ist das allemal und mit dem Kopf schütteln kann man auch.
