Georgia – Country of adventures

The first time of my trip I took a bit more time for a country. And it was all in all together a very good experience. I had a lot of adventures and met a lot of nice people. Right now I am sitting somewhere in Svanetia – a region of the Georgian Caucasus – on a veranda of a farmers house. It is 8am and the combination of the crowing rooster and the barking dog was making me standing up early. In the background I can hear the noise of the river coming from the mountains. Around me there are apple trees, corn plants and vine branches. It smells like old farmers house. That’s the place where we landed yesterday with a polish couple. The night and the dinner were free for us. But how came it to this point? Another adventure. I will come to it later.

The black sea coast

Batumi. My first stop in Georgia. A city on the Georgian black sea coast which is with a reason called Georgian Las Vegas. Here they changed in a short time the skyline of the country. One skyscraper stands to the next around the beach promenade. Weird buildings, sometimes not even finished yet. Maybe the construction company went bankrupt. In the city itself there are probably more Russians than Georgians. After the security situation in Turkey and Egypt changed more and more Russian are using the Georgian black sea costs as their vacation spot. I can’t stay long in this city. After my new travel mates Dirk and Philipp arrived at the evening, we were heading to a camp site 15km north of Batumi. Its good that I became friends to the “manager” because even the second night for me at this camp site is for free. The railway to Batumi goes right next to the campsite. When you are in the train you can actually almost look into the shower. It must be a funny picture when I was there with shampoo in the hair and a train to Batumi was passing the camp site… Good morning!

    Hey Mathias,
